Client: Richard Skinner & Associates, Jacksonville, Florida
Size: 12,200 SF
G.M. Hill provided structural engineering design and construction administration services for this new custom two-story residence along the St. Johns River in the Avondale neighborhood of Jacksonville, FL. This approximately 12,200 SF home included porches, decks, balconies, garages and a guest house. The design was based on a combination of load bearing concrete masonry for the first floor exterior and interior walls and wood framed construction for the second floor exterior walls. The first floor framing with exception to the garage, terraced areas are off grade conventionally framed joist utilizing 2×8 joist and beam system spanning between cmu piers. The second floor framing was designed utilizing pre-cast hollow core floor planks supported by the cmu walls. The roof structure is a combination of pre-engineered wood trusses and conventionally framed rafters and ceiling joist supporting APA rated sheathing.
