GM HILL was retained as a sub-consultant to provide Structural Engineering services for the St. Johns County School District project to upgrade and expand Nease High School in St. Augustine, Florida. The scope of work includes campus-wide modifications including a 64,000 square feet two-story classroom building addition, food service area addition and renovations, covered walkways and renovation of existing building pods. The structure for the new classroom building consists of tilt-up concrete wall panels, composite steel and concrete second floor and steel bar joists and metal deck roof; the foundations are shallow grade support concrete spread footings.  Work includes renovations to the existing kitchen and addition to the dining room of approximately 4,000 SF increasing serving capacity by 300.  Structure for the dining room expansion consists of reinforced concrete masonry walls supporting a steel bar joists and metal deck roof.  There are also miscellaneous interior renovations to the existing classroom and administration buildings. Site work includes the reconfiguration of parking and re-location of the bus loop and student drop-off areas.
