UNIVERSITY OF NORTH FLORIDA FINE ARTS COMPLEX
University of North Florida | Jacksonville, FL
GM HILL served as Structural Engineer of Record for this two-story state-of-the-art fine arts complex for the University of North Florida. The complex consisted of a 1,500-seat auditorium complete with a working stage house, 200-seat recital hall, recording studio, and visual arts facility.
The design consisted of a combination of composite steel construction, structural steel framing, steel bar joist with spans in excess of 90 feet and load-bearing concrete masonry walls. An underground plenum was utilized to supply air to the recital hall and auditorium which required elevated seating on metal deck spanning between walls.
