GM HILL provided 100% Design Project Management, Structural, project QA/QC, cost estimating, and Construction Services for this Design-Build project.
Construction activities included repairing the existing bulkhead (approximately 1275 linear feet) and replacing the existing fender system, which connects the North and South Piers berthing the USCG ships. GM HILL’s professional services included preparation of construction specifications for the repair of corrosion holes in steel sheet pile bulkhead and the removal of the existing concrete sheet pile wall cap. GM HILL provided all design details for the new pile cap and for the interface with the existing pile cap. The design elements included a new concrete wall to encapsulate the existing steel sheet pile wall. In addition, a passive cathodic protection system was designed and installed for the new pile cap, fender system, and wall.
