Ware-Rhaney Expansion and Renovation
Structural Engineer of Record for designing a four-story, 58,000 SF expansion and renovation to the Ware-Rhaney Building’s existing classroom and laboratory facility for FAMU, creating a state-of-the-art teaching/research facility for the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. The new facilities house laboratories, classrooms, and offices for Human Anatomy, Physical Therapy, Information Management, Cardiopulmonology, Occupational Therapy, Health Assessment, Psychomotor Skills, Health Care Management, and Simulated Health
The design consisted of a combination of composite steel construction, structural steel framing, and load-bearing concrete masonry walls. The lateral system utilized a combination of moment frames and shear walls. The building’s foundation system was designed as a mat foundation.
