University of Florida Plant Diagnostic Center
As part of a Continuing Services Contract for the University of Florida, GMHILL performed structural engineering and design for this 6,000 SF one-story Plant Diagnostic Center, a research laboratory for the causes of and cures for various plant diseases. The Center, part of the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences at UF, is a front-line defender against invading pathogens that threaten plants in Florida and the U.S. It provides full-service diagnosis of plant disease samples, training for diagnostic professionals from around the world, and cutting-edge research into new diagnostic techniques.
GMHILL also provided construction administration services during the project’s construction phase. Unique features incorporated into the design included a clean room and laboratory space, conference facilities, and a classroom for independent research.
