GMHILL served as the DOR for the State of Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) to rehabilitate and renovate an existing two-story building into a Visitor Center with an Open Observation Platform and design a new timber boardwalk. This project included comprehensive design services for utilities, site improvements, vehicle and pedestrian accessibility, and site revegetation.
The project presented unique challenges due to its remote coastal location on marshland off the Gulf of Mexico, which required special considerations for the limestone subsurface, wetlands, and coastal environment.
