UNDERWATER MULTI-SENSOR TEST POOL RENOVATIONS, FACILITY 393

GM HILL was contracted to provide a new 90,000 MGalSF Underwater Multi-Sensor acoustic testing pool liner and enhance the test pool’s 9M-gallon pool filtration system. Additional services include shelter design and roofing services to incorporate the equipment upgrade for at Facility 383. GM HILL provided 100% Design and Project Management, Architectural, Structural, QA/QC, Cost Estimating, and CA for this Design-Build project. GMHILL also provided full construction services in addition to design services. The Project consists of repairs/renovations to underwater multi-sensor acoustic testing pool and enhancements to the pool’s filtration systems.  The project requires de-chlorination and de-watering of approximately 9M gallons of water and a turnover rate for filtration and disinfection once complete of 4.5M Gal/day. The design team designed a new impervious protective pool liner system, associated water filtration system, designed new filtration and pumping systems (including pipes) to function with new disinfection system; Designed pump shelter, electrical room and equipment foundations for new pump equipment; Design complexities relating to the incorporation of the existing equipment Nemato model NFS-42-A-420 sand filter and NEX-GEN 80 chlorine generators were incorporated into the design.  Visibility of 30 FT had to be maintained.
